Outreach/Social Justice Ministries

Advent Giving Tree

Several charities present Christmas gift lists; those assisting the coordinators prepare and place a tag for each gift on the giving tree for parishioners to select and then deliver the wrapped gifts to the appropriate charity.

Archdiocesan Baby Shower

A baby bassinet is placed in the back of the church in January so that parishioners can donate unwrapped baby gifts to be given to Birthright in February.

Baptismal Ministry

Members in this ministry will implement a special Baptismal program in which the parish sends the newly baptized baby a token gift and note every six months for the first two years.

Circle of Friends

Parishioners in this ministry prepare meals together which they freeze and then distribute to parishioners in times of need (birth of a baby, illness, death, etc.)

Child Care

Members of this group will volunteer to watch a child or children in the Parish Hall on an ad hoc basis - during a time when Fr. Grimes needs to meet with parishioners who have small children.

Dover Days Fair - Hospitality

Parishioners serve coffee and doughnuts without charge to those who come to the fair.

Food for Sister Parish

Parishioners donate food to the baskets kept in the front foyer; the items are regularly taken to our sister parish, Our Lady of Lourdes, in Jamaica Plain by the deacon who serves in that church. This ministry would look for ways to enhance contributions.

Pine Street Inn

On the third Sunday of each month, a group of parishioners meet in the church parking lot at 4 p.m. to drive to the Pine Street Inn in Boston to serve the guests there. They return by 6:30 p.m. Our parish has participated in serving at Pine Street Inn for over twenty-five years, and is recognized in each annual report of Pine Street Inn as a regular contributor.

Elderly/Homebound

This ministry will reach out to the elderly/homebound in various ways including giving cards and small plants for Christmas and Easter from the parish as well as birthday cards at eightieth birthday and older.

Sponsor Cub Scout Troop

For many years Most Precious Blood Parish has been the charter organization for Pack 52, Dover Cub Scouts. The pack meets once a month in the Parish Hall. Boys ages 5-11 are served by this ministry.

Transportation

Members in this ministry will assist parishioners who need to be driven to medical, radiation, or chemotherapy appointments when illness prevents them from driving themselves as well as providing transportation to and from Mass for those unable to drive.
